Bosom Mitra’s Art Show - Get Addicted to Life, Not Drugs

On the evening of June 10, 2017, the premises of Amdavad Ni Gufa, got filled with soul stirring canvasses that expresses pathos through colours.  The situation was a part of Solitude art show curated by Manashree under her Bosom Mitra initiative which helps budding artists to promote their non-commercial art prepared during art camps or art programs and is specifically based on conflicting subjects of abuse, distress or solitude. The art show displayed artworks on drug addiction and 20 artists mobilised from various art institutions showcased in all 33 artworks for two days i.e June 10th and June 11, 2017.

Manashree has been involved as a curator for four shows in past three years, ‘Solitude’ being her first in Ahmedabad. The initiative was appreciated and visited by scores of city dwellers and was supported by an International NGO called Drug Free World.

Manashree is personally empathetic to victims who are imprisoned in the shackles of drug abuse. The two-day talk-art show helped people in knowing how to cope up if one’s loved one is captured in these heinous habits. The exhibit aimed to sensitize youth about the perils of drug abuse and addiction. The visual art uses aesthetic tools to display the adversity faced by entrapped people. It brings out the distorted emotions and self-barricaded states of addicts through enchanting aesthetics on canvas.  Such a collection is quite rare and it is through efforts of curators like Manashree that these solitude depicting art works seek to realise its artistic potential.
