Did you know, 19^th September, 1893 was the day when New Zealand became the first country to grant all women the right to vote? It spurred women in other countries to stand for their due rights and position in the society.

Team CY brings you the 229^th edition of Ahmedabad Art Weekly so that you are not devoided the right to have fun.

We have two great exhibitions coming up this weekend. Anisha, a student from CEPT, is putting up her solo art exhibition at Ahmedabad ni Gufa, titled ‘Adhvan’. The other exhibition that you should visit is put up by amalgamating artworks of six diverse artists who were brought together by Uno Lona Academy. Aalekh is an exhibition of artworks produced by these artists in their year long journey of embracing art as their medium of expression.

For the theatre buffs, you must check ‘ReTweet’, a play by Ankit Gor which presents a satirical take on the contemporary relationships and impact of social media and dating portals on them. The leading theatre production company, Felicity theatre, brings us an masterpiece play ‘Mahabharat’ written, directed and acted by Puneet Issar.

Neekoee Foundation and Footlights Theatre hosts Women’s Theatre Weekend which is sure to make your weekend exciting and filled with amazing theatre performances as Jyoti Dogra, Maya Krishna Rao and Mahila Manch take the stage.

Paraspar brings you their seventh talk of the season presented by Dr. Ranjit Vank, loksahityakar, talking about the importance of dohas in loksahitya. Gothadi hosts a lecture on nutritional and healthy diet by Shri Nileshbhai Soni, a well-known nutritionist and wellness expert. LinkedIn Local Ahmedabad is holding a local meet where people can interact with offline members in the city.

Famously known as ‘The Grand Old Man of India’, Dadabhai Naoroji was an eminent freedom fighter and founding member of the Indian National Congress. A Parsi scholar, trader, economist and politician who pointed out the evils of the colonial administration. Team CY pays gratitude for his contributions in India’s freedom struggle and hold him as the inspiration for our 229^th Ahmedabad Art Weekly. Not only did he help us in achieving independence, his book Poverty and Un-British Rule in India shone light on how British robbed India of its wealth and exposed the true nature of British rule.
