The clouds continue to please us with a modest amount of rain. And so will Ahmedabad. Here is the 223^rd edition of Ahmedabad Art Weekly that will update you on the art-forecast of the week. First up, the Green Utsav promises of a melodious night where prolific singers and musicians of the city help you get into the weekend feel. And don’t forget to catch the live stand-up by NishantTanwar. The MahaCool Boy will make you laugh your ass off.

Our very own, Alliance Française brings us a unique art exhibition. They host some of the latest works by the budding artist, Siddhartha, who exhibits a series of paintings and illustrations of eyes that he met and inspired him. And you can even interact with the subjects and the artist. So Come As You Are…

If this exhibition has inspired you to paint, participate in the ‘Paint and Brush’session hosted by Studio Wildflower and Project Otenga where you will be guided to do some joyous freehand brush paintings. And don’t worry if you have never painted before; they will teach you from the scratch.

For the theatre lovers, we have two upcoming plays but unfortunately, they will be performed on the same night. The first one, Hu ChandrakantBakshi, is a play based on the life of ChandrakantBakshi, a prolific and fierce writer who was loved by his readers. And the second one, Pan SambhadoTohKhara, is a play that tries shed light on a simple yet completely missed out fact of our society: “Nobody really listens to the children”. The play promises to entertain both, elderly and young ones, equally. Both of these plays are a must watch. So pick wisely.

This week brings us a few enlightening and educational workshops. The NLP SubConscious Re-Imprinting is a workshop, conducted by NLP Coach Ram Verma, that will share the No.1 secret to reprogram your health, wealth and happiness. Then we have a talk on E-Publishing that will educate you on the emerging opportunities in the respective field. An at last, we have a lecture on art and culture of India. India and the World: A history in nine stories is an exhibition that celebrates India’s cultural connection with the world.

Gujarati writer and philosophy historian Narmadashankar Mehta is the inspiration for our 227th Ahmedabad Art Weekly. He shared a lineage with Gujarati poet BalashankarKantharia and got trained under the tutelage of Gujarati scholar and writer AnandshankarDhruv. Born in 1871 in Ahmedabad, Mehta was proficient at languages and had in-depth knowledge in Gujarati, English and Sanskrit. He contributed scholarly articles that were clear in thoughts, scientific and objective in nature on religion, literature and philosophy in multiple magazines. Some of his most famous works are the four volumes of Dharmatatva-Vichar, two parts of Hind Tattvajnan No Itihas, Upanishadavicharana, Shakta Sampradaya, SuprajanShastr and SandhyakarmaVivaran that were both narrative and historically profound.
