AAW #61

A thundering start of the week with city facing its first rain shower of the season. Actually the shower is a hint towards the nature’s call. This week with the world environment day, when the earth expects a simple deed of reaping more and more trees around us, Ahmedabad Art Weekly #61 has highlighted World Environment Day events. This week’s AAW is showering creativity with a head start for toddlers with an art competition and for adults a brief fruitful discussion over movies and cinematography. Do not miss out on the hilarious live comedy night too this week. For the drama lovers’ people of Ahmedabad have a spectacular play narrated beautifully at Gujarat University Convention Centre.

This week AAW is dedicated to the great 16th century saint Dadu Dayal. He was first spotted in Ahmedabad, to astonishment of the businessman who spotted him, he was found floating on the water of Sabarmati. From this point his popularity soared. His preaching and ‘sahaj’ songs still inspires us to be great and grateful in life. His aura and presence was enough to make people think about life with deeper meanings. His compilation of verses goes up to an astonishing number of 5000 totally and he was one of the first preachers, who decided to eradicate castism from the process of knowledge distribution. He was one among the few saints of India, who propagated spiritual upliftment without signifying any ‘form’ for worship. In India this way is termed as ‘Nirguna’ school of thought. Creative Yatra is inspired by his reforms in the society and would like to share it with all through this week’s AAW.
